Youth International Education Club "NEW LINE" Unite Through Football
Peace Day, 21 September!

Dear friends at Youth International Education Club "NEW LINE",

I'm writing to invite you to join Peace One Day's new football campaign, 'One Day One Goal.  'One Day One Goal' is being supported by PUMA, as well as some of the world's finest footballers, including Michael Essien, Roger Milla, and Tony Yeboah.  You can see them on our website at www.peaceoneday.org/football.aspx.  We're also grateful for the support of the David Beckham Academy, for helping develop the sports lesson plan in the Peace One Day Education Resource.

You might already be familiar with Peace One Day (POD), the non-profit organization I founded in 1999.  As a result of POD's efforts, 21 September is officially designated by the United Nations as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence - Peace Day.

POD's aim is to raise global awareness of Peace Day, and to inspire the global community to act on the Day.  On 21 September 2007, approximately 100 million people were active on Peace Day in 192 countries.  There were life-saving initiatives in 14 countries, and over 80 activities in Afghanistan alone where 1.4 million children were vaccinated against polio.

Our 'One Day One Goal' campaign encourages football matches to be played in every member state of the United Nations on Peace Day, Sunday 21 September 2008.  Each match will celebrate cooperation, unity and the power of football to bring people together.

Peace Day is not just about war between nations, it is also about the violence in our homes, communities, schools, and towards our environment.  As such it relates to every human being on the planet. Peace One Day aims to inspire young people to become the driving force behind the vision of a united and sustainable world.

We would like to invite the Youth International Education Club "NEW LINE" to hold a 'One Day One Goal' football match as your commitment for Peace Day, Sunday 21 September 2008.  You can learn more about how to do this through our 'One Day One Goal' page www.peaceoneday.org/football.aspx

Whatever commitment you wish to make for Peace Day, 21 September - whether it's a 'One Day One Goal' match or something else - please log it on our website at www.peaceoneday.org

Alternatively, if you would like to email us your commitment, we would be more than happy to log it on our website for you.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions, or wish to receive additional information.  Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Warm regards

In peace
