Peace Child International is in the midst of putting together their summary of this year's UN Human Development Report on Climate Change and we need your input!

The UN's Annual Human Development Report is probably the most widely read document published by the UN. But the reports are not widely read by young people, which is why the UN is inviting us to make a short, eye-catching summary of it.The process is similar to last year. If you are new to it, this is how it works: we create a Task Force of individual young people, school groups, etc. and ask them to bring to life the key messages of the HDR with their own creative opinion pieces, reports, poems and stories, paintings, cartoons and photographs etc. The result is a beautiful, fascinating book written and illustrated, designed and edited by young people. You can view the one we did last year at:

The most creative contributors are invited to join the design and editing team of young international interns for an Editorial Meeting here at the Peace Child International centre in the UK. Other contributors can watch the book come together, page by page, via the website, offering suggestions for different text or design element, just as if you were sitting at the Editorial Meeting table.

If you want to contribute stories, paintings, poems and reports about climate change, sign up now for the Task Force at:

Videos can be submitted in any language, as long as any dialogue are translated into English. All contributors will get a copy of the finished booklet and a participants certificate. The best contributors will be given an all expenses paid trip to the UK to work with the Peace Child youth team
+ UN officials on editing the final booklet But hurry! The contribution
deadline is February 15th 2008 and, if you want to be considered as an editor, get your contributions to us by January 31st 2008.

Also this year the UN has asked us to go further and invite young people to create 30 to 90 second videos - info-mercials on how climate change affects you and what you feel should be done about it.They can be short, dramatic pieces, scripted and acted out by you and your friends; or it can be documentary footage cut together to make an impactive statement about a key aspect of climate change. Or it can be a mix of the two.The videos should be uploaded to our special site at:

On this site, you will be able to view all the videos and choose your favorites. The best 15-20 videos submitted will be edited into a single 30-minute show linked by a celebrity host. It and the booklet will be distributed by the UN around the world in time for World Environment Day - June 5th 2008.

So get started, be creative, and submit your work!
